PARENTING

All of us want to be good or great parents. Some of us are through (or almost) through being a parent of small or young children, but our adult children have needs and struggles as well. One thing every child needs to hear from their parents is words of encouragement and affirmation. More when they are young, hopefully, but also as they mature and become adults on their own. No,w you may not approve of how they invest in some aspect of their lives, but there is still much you can encourage or affirm. The following are 10 ways to encourage your child, adult child, grandchild, or just someone you know.

Here are 10 ways to say, "I am proud of you."

  1. "You did a great job...at whatever they just did."

  2. "That was hard work, but you finished the job!"

  3. "You are an amazing son, daughter, friend, brother/sister!"

  4. "You're showing great leadership in some aspect of their lives.

  5. "It makes me proud to say that I know you."

  6. "You must be the fastest kid on your team, or the best salesman at your job!"

  7. "You're a really great reader."

  8. "How did you know that answer? That's amazing! You are so smart!"

  9. "You are very mature for your age."

  10. "That was a tough situation, but you handled it really well!"

The more we search for something good to comment on, the more we will find that good. Be looking for ways you can encourage, build up, and edify. Ephesians 4:32
