Founded on Freedom and the Word of God

In the mid-18th century, around the world, change was in the air. Nations were falling, and new nations were rising. Several world-changing revolutions occurred, and many would argue that these revolutions stemmed from the teachings and philosophy of the Enlightenment. Of the new nations or governments that were formed during that time, however, few survived. Most notable among the survivors is our country, with its Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, as well as a three-branched Democratic Republic. Our nation has grown from a fledgling republic to become one of the dominant powers in the history of the world in our short 245-year history. Why? What has made the difference? While you could no longer say we are a Christian nation, we were indeed founded on Judeo-Christian and biblical values. We were founded on a belief in One God who gives to all men certain inalienable rights. We were founded on the Biblical principles of the Sanctity of Human Life, the Sacredness of Marriage, the Right to Ownership of Property, and the right of all individuals to dignity, respect, and equal justice under the Law. All of these rights, and so many more, spring from the truths and teachings of God's Word. It has been said that a commentator from Europe once said: "I look for America's Greatness....Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great." Alas, we are coming to the end of that goodness that has made America Great. In recent years, we have rejected the God of the Bible. We have rejected many of the biblical Truths on which our nation was founded. We no longer acknowledge our trust in God. We no longer value the sanctity of life, or marriage, or the blessing of children. We are now very close to stripping the right to own property or speak freely from individuals who do not bow down to the secular, scientific humanism that has become the dominant philosophy/worldview of our nations. However, it is not too late. II Chronicles 7:14 was written to a people who were living in captivity, in exile, but were promised by God that if they would humble themselves and pray, seek His face, and repent of their sinful ways, that God would hear, forgive, and heal. We have the key to Spiritual Awakening and Revival in our hands if we will simply turn to and return to God. What about you? Are you willing to do your part and return to Him?

Seeing Him with you,

Pastor Hal
